The Drake Medical College was located downtown at 406 Center Street. After it was closed in 1913, it was sold to the city of Des Moines and used as the original Broadlawns Hospital. Later it was torn down to build Veteran's Memorial Auditorium. Vets Auditorium opened in 1955 and has been renamed as the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center.
